Boy Scouts Longhouse Council to close summer camp in Adirondacks

Syracuse, N.Y. — The Longhouse Council of the Boy Scouts is closing its 1,500-acre summer camp near Long Lake in the Adirondacks due to shrinking usage.
Edwin Theetge, CEO and Scout Executive of the Mattydale-based Longhouse Council, said the council made the difficult decision to stop operating a summer resident camp at its Sabattis Scout Reservation because of a drop in the number of Boy Scouts and leaders who attend its one-week camping programs.
